A Smugglers' Notch Christmas

For the second year in a row, we have spent Christmas up at Smugglers' Notch in Vermont.  Last year, we enjoyed the place so much that we looked into buying a small place there.  Smuggs is a great place to come with children and has many benefits such as...

  • a great place to ski
  • a wonderful place for the family
  • daycare and ski camp
  • a friendly atmosphere
  • not too far away...
    ...but not too close either

As you can see, the condo we have has everything you could wish for.  There is a small kitchen, a fireplace, a stereo, a very good king sized bed, and best of all, a whirlpool tub - great after a hard day of skiing.

There is also a good view of all three mountains plus a southern exposure on the sliding glass door and deck.

This year, the skiing was wonderful!  These pictures were taken one morning from the top of Madonna, the largest of the three mountains serviced by Smuggs ski lifts.  See the trail map for more details.

This year, the skiing was wonderful!  (I had to repeat myself)  All of the snow up here is natural snow.

This day we had just gotten 8 inches of snow during the night and it had snowed almost every day before.

This is a look back at the lift.  The cloud tops were just under the peak of Madonna.  This means that they were somewhere in the 3500 foot range.  It was still snowing under the clouds.

There is no way that the pictures can do justice to the awsome view this morning.   (12/29/2000)

The "easy" way down...
